HP has released an advisory that the internal speaker of the Ipaq 4700 series can potentially be damaged by third party applications.
"Damage can occur when the handheld communicates with a third-party application that generates a very high-volume audio signal. The audio signal overdrives the full-scale maximum volume inherent to the Pocket PC's speaker. If this issue occurs, the HP iPAQ Pocket PC hx4700 series handheld can potentially become damaged and no longer produce sound."
The good news is the issue can be fixed with a software update, so if you are a 4700 owner you can access the update by clicking the link below.
