There is some information hitting the internet with early details on the next generation of the Windows Mobile operating system.
"At least two web sites are reporting that a successor to Windows Mobile 5.0, codenamed "Photon", is underway at Microsoft. According to Mobile MVP Paul O'Brien, founder of MoDaCo.com, Photon will finally merge the smartphone and Pocket PC branches of Windows Mobile into a single operating system."
Brighthand is also reporting that Photon could see a 2007 release, and that there may be a "second edition" type update currently being planned for the current Windows Mobile 2005 operating system.
