"Samsung Electronics announced on March 27 at the fourth annual Samsung Mobile Solution Forum in Taipei that it has developed a 2.1-inch LCD panel for high-end mobile devices that will provide QVGA resolution and comes with sensors designed to adjust brightness to optimize ambient lighting. Screen brightness is automatically adjusted to enhance readability under any lighting condition."

This seems like it is long overdue, given the importance of maximizing battery capacity for mobile devices. I know the fact that I cannot adjust screen brightness on my Moto Q drives me crazy! (Source- Digitimes)
