Innobec has announced the release of SideWindow, which turns your cradled Windows Mobile device into a secondary mini monitor.

In thier "Tips for Mobile Beginners" series, Microsoft has posted an article on how to get the most out of Pocket Word.
"Pocket Word is better for novelists than accountants. Unless, of course, you're an accountant writing a novel. The reason Pocket Word doesn't work for accountants is that it doesn't yet handle tables or other types of formatting. But it's great for typing while on the go. Reports, briefs, almost everything you do on the desktop you can do on Pocket Word"

There are many programs that will allow you to remotely control your desktop using your handheld device (VNC, GoToMyPC etc.). Did you know you can also do this on a Pocket PC without additional software if your desktop is running Windows XP Pro?
"I am going to assume that you have either a Handheld or Pocket PC, such as the Hewlett Packard iPAQ, equipped with an integrated wireless LAN connection (e.g., 802.11b) so that you can connect to the Internet. I'm also going to assume that the Windows XP machine you're trying to connect to is up and running on the Internet."

Microsoft has announced the release of Global Contact Access for the Pocket PC.
"With Global Contact Access, you can use Pocket Outlook on your Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC Phone Edition to look up contacts in the Global Address List (GAL) on your corporate Exchange server. You can also check your co-workers' schedules to see if they're free or busy, and add multiple recipients to a meeting request."

CNET has done a quick review of the new Samsung SCH-i730 Windows Mobile based device. The review includes some photo's as well as a quick video, and they seem very impressed.
"We first got a glimpse of the Samsung SCH-i730 at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and ever since, we've been chomping at the bit, waiting for the thing to come out. Well, we got our hands on one, and boy, were we pleased. Sporting a full QWERTY keyboard, Windows Mobile 2003 SE, Mobile Media Player 10.0, Verizon's push e-mail technology, and a host of other high-end features, this smart phone is worth a look."

Microsoft has announced the release of their new Digital Image Suite 2006. Of note to Pocket PC users is the ability to sync photo's from the desktop to your mobile device.
"Device Sync Support makes it easy to share photos and videos with mobile devices such as the Portable Media Center, Pocket PCs and Smartphones through syncing with Windows Media Player. Consumers can simply flag the desired images, and the next time the mobile device syncs with the PC, the photos will automatically transmit."
