Straight from the "How dumb could you be to not have hard reset your device before listing it on Ebay" department, a security firm by the name of Trust Digital undertook a project to find people selling devices that contained personal information.
"Trust Digital engineers recovered nearly 27,000 pages of personal, corporate, and device data from nine of 10 mobile devices purchased through eBay for the project, including a smartphone sold by an employee of a major corporation. The salvaged data included personal banking and tax information, corporate sales activity notes, corporate client records, product roadmaps, contact address books, phone and Web logs, calendar records, personal and business correspondence, computer passwords, user medication information, and other private, competitive or potentially damaging material.
This is a great reminder of how easy it can be to lose track of your personal information when using a mobile device. To read the full release click the link below.

Yahoo has announced that they will be expanding thier "Go for Mobile" Software Suite to include Microsoft Windows Powered Pocket PC's and Smartphones.
"Making the software available to Windows Mobile smartphones, which include Motorola's popular Q phone and several Palm Treo phones, will nearly double Yahoo's reach. Last year, Microsoft shipped 6 million phones with its Windows Mobile software. For now, these phone owners will have to download Yahoo's software. But starting early next year, partners such as Motorola will preinstall it on some phones, in moves that are likely to significantly expand its usage."
Yahoo originally launched it's "Go for Mobile" software for phones running on the Symbian operating system back in February.

Crunchgear has posted a short video that shows a quick comparison of the Treo 700w's that will be running on either the Verizon or the Sprint networks.
"Comparing the Sprint 700wx and the 700w from Verizon, they have the same connectors on the bottom, same dialpad and the same side buttons. The 700wx is a bit more responsive and has more than double the program memory. It also doesn't have the picture mail program, something the narrator thinks is quite lousy."

Adisasta Software announced WinMobile Lens Pro version 2, state-of-art virtual magnifying lens application for Windows Mobile Pocket PC.
WinMobile Lens Pro grasps your device's real time screen at the moment it is activated, and allows you to zoom in any part of the captured screen using pre-defined shapes. The magnified screen can then be scrolled around by dragging the stylus or move around using the navigation keys. If you are anything like me it is tough to get through a day without several trips to digg.com to see what stories are hitting the front page. Well now an enthusiastic user has created their own mobile version of Digg.
"Digg is these days one of the most popular techie blog sites, and most people love it. Problem is, it has no mobile version. There were 4-5 earlier efforts by fans to create a mobile interface to Digg, but their creations dont work or look great on most mobile browsers. This is why I decided to create a new mobile interface, and make sure it works with all cHTML-capable mobile browsers"
You can see a shot of Digg Mobile running on Pocket IE to the right. To see screenshots from other mobile devices, or to check out the Digg Mobile url click on the link below.
Eye-Film has introduced a new slim Wi-Fi enabled SD card, that also packs 1gb of memory.
"Previously, getting your WLAN on with an SD card required that ugly extra bulk at the end (SDIO cards), and they were designed for use on PDAs and smartphones. As such, you couldn't possibly use those cards on certain devices that had more "internal" SD slots, like digital cameras. This new innovation from Eye-Film eschews the extra bulk, and gives you high-speed WiFi in a standard SD card form.
It looks like these cards are aimed at camera users for the moment, but the company is also said to be investigating the possible use of the cards in other devices such as smartphones and PDA's. Source- Mobilemag

Following the announcement of the 700w launching on the Verizon network back in January, many users have wondered when the 700W would begin to appear on other networks. Now some pictures have been posted over at TreoCentral.com, that appear to confirm that Sprint will be the next carrier to launch the 700w device.
In some related news, a Palm spokesperson has also confirmed to Reuters that the next Palm device announcement will be made on September 12th in the UK. This announcement will likely be the widely speculated Treo 750W, which will be the second Treo to run the Windows Mobile operating system. Source- theunwired.net

We had previously reported on the test program "Connexion", that Boeing was running to offer in-flight high speed internet, but now it seems they will be discontinuing the program.
"Over the last six years, we have invested substantial time, resources and technology in Connexion by Boeing," said Boeing Chairman, President and CEO Jim McNerney. "Regrettably, the market for this service has not materialized as had been expected. We believe this decision best balances the long-term interests of all parties with a stake in Connexion by Boeing."

The Asus P525 has recieved it's FCC approval. The P525 is one of the few Pocket PC Phones that feature a built in numberpad instead of the more traditional "QWERTY" keyboard design.
"FCC approval isn't a sure sign that this device will debut in the United States, but the fact that this is a quad-band smartphone is a strong indication of this. Only three GSM bands are generally used on models that will be released in just Europe and/or Asia."
Other features of the device are Wi-Fi B/G, Bluetooth 1.2, a 2 megapixel camera, as well as a 2.8-inch QVGA screen. (Source- Brighthand)

Until now the main limiting factor to playing games on your handheld device was the lack of decent controls, but this new product looks to change all that.
"Be interactive game controller 'Zeta' is dedicated to Pocket Pc Smartphones. It can work with HP iPaq rw6100 and LG C8000 series that run on MS Pocket PC 2003 SE. It supports E2-SNES emulator and 7 programmable buttons.
Although I could not see myself carrying this around, the concept is pretty cool. You can check out some more pictures of the device by clicking on the link below.

"In about one year, podcasts have transformed from a virtually unknown type of media to a common, widely used method of listening to radio and TV broadcasts. Pocket Podcasts solves this problem, bringing a complete podcast client to Windows Mobile devices. There have been alot of rumblings lately about the new HTC device that will set out to challenge both the Moto Q and Blackberry, but now we have some pictures to go with it.
"Specs are a little slim at this point, but as you can tell from the pic, it comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and naturally runs on WinMo5. Word is that it does quad-band GSM and Wi-Fi as well. What will really set the Excalibur apart from the competition, though, is its unique touch-sensitive "jog strip" that replaces the ubiquitous jog wheel we find on the device offered by Research in Motion. You can see this clever strip just to the right of the vibrant better-than-QVGA display."
