"Samsung Electronics announced on March 27 at the fourth annual Samsung Mobile Solution Forum in Taipei that it has developed a 2.1-inch LCD panel for high-end mobile devices that will provide QVGA resolution and comes with sensors designed to adjust brightness to optimize ambient lighting. Screen brightness is automatically adjusted to enhance readability under any lighting condition."
This seems like it is long overdue, given the importance of maximizing battery capacity for mobile devices. I know the fact that I cannot adjust screen brightness on my Moto Q drives me crazy! (Source- Digitimes)

HTC has officially announced "The Advantage", a Windows Mobile based PDA device with a load of features.
"The HTC Advantage includes a thin, magnetically connected QWERTY keyboard and advanced connectivity with Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA, Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi. In addition, the HTC Advantage enables powerful navigation capabilities with built-in GPS navigation"

Some leaked images of the HTC Kaiser have made their way on to the Taiwanese website, Mobile Life.
The device will run Windows Mobile 6 Pro with ultra high-speed HSUPA connectivity. It will have a built in 3 megapixel camera as well as integrated GPS. While all those specs are extremely impressive, the form factor may be the most interesting part of this device.

MantraGroup Inc. has announced the availability of Causerie Messenger for Pocket PC and Windows Mobile Handhelds.

Yahoo has announced that it's new multi function internet service, Yahoo Go, is now available for Windows Mobile devices.

Some details have come out regarding HTC's successor to the very popular Cingular 3125, otherwise know as the "Star Trek"
"Codenamed the Erato by the Taiwanese company, the new flip-phone will bring the much sought-after addition of 3G wireless through HSDPA -- notably, including support for the 850MHz band used in North America. The Erato will also see a major performance upgrade, receiving a much faster 400MHz processor (up from the 200MHz of the Cingular 3125), a sharper 2-megapixel camera at the back, and a front VGA camera."

PushEffect is a new program that will provide push-email to your Windows Mobile device from most POP3/Imap/ISP email accounts.
Your email must be set to auto forward a copy of all new messages to your phone via SMS. A special character string in the SMS lets PushEffect know this is notification of a new email, and automatically triggers the send/ receive function of your phone. While this seems a pretty creative way of achieving "push" email, I have been using Emoze myself (http://www.emoze.com), and it is working beautifully. It seems to me the main benefit of PushEffect would be not having to leave your PC on as no software actually needs to be running on your desktop for it to work.
Unlike Emoze, this program will set you back $29.95, but a free 7 day trial is available.

As soon as the iPhone was announced the clones started creeping out of the woodwork. While this is not the first iPhone skin we have seen, it may certainly be the best. This video is of an ETEN M600 Pocket PC running an iPhone skin interface, that looks incredibly real. It even has the "slide to unlock" functionality of the iPhone that was shown in the original demo.
