Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine has announced the nominees for the 2007 Best Software Awards.
"We start with well over 3000 consumer Pocket PC and Smartphone titles found in the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine Encyclopedia of Software and Accessories. Between 20-25% of the titles are nominated. The Board of Experts judges cast votes in over 100 categories to determine the winners."

Yes, we realize this is not really Pocket PC news, but after all, we wouldn't want to be the only web site in the world not discussing the impending launch of the iPhone.
According to a report, Apple and Microsoft will announce a licensing agreement for the Exchange Activesync protocol. This means Apple iPhone users will be able to connect to Exchange Server and make use of its wireless messaging and synchronization capabilities.
This is a large development as one of the early knocks against the iPhone has been the lack of a large scale business email solution, similar to the ones currently used by Microsoft and RIM. Click the link below to read the full story.

According to a company road map released by HTC, their future plans include a device that will run both the Windows Mobile 6 and Windows Vista operating systems.
"To handle two different operating systems, this UMPC will have an unusual arrangement of memory. It will have 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM to run Windows Mobile, plus it will include 1 GB of RAM and a 30 GB or 40 GB hard drive for Vista."
