COVERTEC PDA CASE REVIEW
One of the first products I received for review was a leather PDA case cover from Covertec Inc. I personally have never used a leather case and I will admit it is mainly because of my pre-conceived notions that it would add unnecessary bulk to my device. The hard plastic flip cover that came with my Ipaq seemed to do the job just fine, and was almost the same size as the unit with no cover. All that being said, after doing this review, I am not sure that that piece of plastic will ever make it back onto my Ipaq again as I was quite impressed with both the look and the functionality of this product.
The product came in a blister pack type package. Inside the package was the case itself, as well as very nice looking gift box that would be perfect for giving this item as a gift. I slipped the Ipaq into the unit and it fit perfectly. The case itself is nicely constructed with a flip over leather cover, a compartment for holding your credit cards, as well as a leather insert in the middle to keep the devices screen protected. There is a beige overstitching that also adds to the look of the case. The closure is a magnetic clip that does the job nicely. My only concern here was whether or not this clip would lose its strength over time, which I will obviously not be able to tell at this point as I have had the unit for only a week or so.
In terms of functionality it also does the job nicely. The one blemish on my device is a small nick in the bottom corner from inadvertent contact with the asphalt. My hard plastic case was on, but didn't save it. I could instantly tell once I put this case on that it would have prevented such an accident. The top of the cover is contoured to give easy access to the headphone port, as well as the obvious necessary accessibility to the charging and communication port on the bottom. This case did not provide accessibility to the SD slot on the top, although I am told that the new versions of this case will have that issue rectified. The one glaring issue on the case is that for some unknown reason, there is a hole to accommodate the reset button on the bottom of the case, but it does not line up properly with the reset. It can be reached with some effort and shifting of the case, but it is definitely an issue. It is a shame that such a beautiful case has to have this one little issue with it.
Overall as you can probably tell I was very impressed with the case and would recommend it to anyone looking to invest some extra money in order to properly protect their device. This case will not only protect, but it will do so with style. The case is available in three colours (black, red, and beige), and their is a wide variety of cases available for all different model PDA's.
